I contacted Will about recording real drums for a song and he got straight back to me with details and a quote. I left him a fairly blank canvas but he was knowledgeable about the drum sound and playing styles of the tracks I referenced. Less than 24 hours after initially contacting him I had both the mixed and raw multitrack .wav files ready to drop into my project. I certainly couldn’t better his mixing so all in all I was extremely pleased with the quality of the end result I got from Will. The drums sound a thousand times better than the ones I had programmed – to the extent that the drums are now probably the strongest point in the mix and the bass and guitar sounds need revisiting! For the amount of time and effort it would have taken me to come anything remotely approaching what I got from Will, it was simply a no brainier to have him do it.
